This agreement sets out the framework for how we will work together. It sits alongside the ongoing contracting that will continue throughout our coaching relationship.
Coaching is a collaborative relationship that gives you space to think, explore, gain clarity and decide what you want to do next.
My role is to listen, question, reflect and challenge where appropriate. I will not tell you what decisions to make or take responsibility for your choices or actions.
Coaching is not therapy, counselling, diagnosis, mentoring or consultancy. I do not provide medical, medication, legal or financial advice.
Coaching may sometimes take place alongside therapy, counselling or other professional support. If another form of support appears more appropriate, we can discuss this.
Coaching does not guarantee any particular result or outcome.
You remain responsible for your own decisions, actions and wellbeing.
I ask that you engage openly and honestly, take responsibility for the choices you make and let me know if something about the coaching is not working for you.
Any actions agreed between sessions remain your choice and your responsibility.
You can pause, disagree, ask questions, decline to explore something or change direction at any time.
Our relationship is based on trust, honesty, openness and mutual respect.
Contracting continues throughout our work together. We can revisit expectations, boundaries, goals, challenge, feedback or how we are working at any point, including during a session.
This ongoing contracting does not replace the formal terms of this written Coaching Agreement. These remain in place unless we agree to change them.
What you share during coaching is confidential.
Confidentiality may need to be broken if I reasonably believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person, or where disclosure is legally required.
Where appropriate and reasonably possible, I will try to discuss my concerns with you first before contacting an appropriate professional, emergency service or relevant authority.
Standard coaching sessions are 60 minutes, unless we agree otherwise.
Sessions normally take place via Zoom. Face-to-face coaching can be arranged by mutual agreement.
Where travel is required, an additional charge may apply depending on the location and circumstances. Any additional travel charge will always be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
If you are late, your session will normally still finish at the originally agreed time.
Coaching will not take place while you are driving.
Please attend coaching sober and able to participate fully.
If I believe alcohol, drugs or another form of impairment means that coaching cannot safely or effectively continue, I may end or postpone the session.
Any charge for that session will be considered at my reasonable discretion depending on the circumstances.
Your coaching fee will be agreed before paid coaching begins.
Pay-as-you-go sessions are paid for in advance.
Where five sessions are purchased and paid for in advance, a 10% saving applies to the agreed fee.
There is no predetermined number of sessions you must complete. I generally recommend starting with five sessions and then reviewing progress together.
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session.
Where less than 24 hours' notice is given, the session will normally be charged at the agreed rate or treated as a used prepaid session.
A no-show will normally be charged in full or treated as a used prepaid session.
I may use reasonable discretion where there are genuine exceptional circumstances.
If I cancel or rearrange a session, you will not be charged and any prepaid session will remain available to you.
Eligible unused prepaid sessions can be refunded.
Completed sessions, late cancellations and no-shows are not refundable.
Refunds are calculated using the amount actually paid for unused sessions. Any 10% package saving will not be retrospectively removed from sessions already completed.
Shifting Life Coaching will normally process an eligible refund within five working days, although your bank or payment provider may take longer.
Eligible unused prepaid sessions may be transferred once, with my prior agreement.
The person receiving those sessions will be treated as a new potential client and will complete their own chemistry call and Coaching Agreement.
No confidential information or coaching notes will transfer with the sessions.
You can contact me by email between sessions for practical matters or to flag something relevant for our next session.
I aim to respond within 24 hours where reasonably possible.
Contact between sessions is not intended to replace coaching sessions and is not an emergency-support service.
I may take brief coaching notes.
Notes are kept to a minimum and normally use a client reference code rather than your full name.
Coaching notes are normally retained for 12 months after our coaching relationship ends and are then securely destroyed or permanently deleted unless a complaint, dispute, legal obligation, insurance requirement or another legitimate reason requires them to be retained longer.
Contracts, invoices, payment information and other business records may need to be retained for different periods.
Sessions will not be recorded without your prior agreement.
Further information is available in the Shifting Life Coaching Privacy Policy.
You may provide an emergency contact if you wish.
Providing an emergency contact is optional.
Either of us can decide to end the coaching relationship.
If something is not working, I would encourage us to discuss it openly first so we can consider whether anything needs to change.
If coaching ends, any eligible unused prepaid sessions will be dealt with under the refund terms above.
There is no obligation to continue coaching simply because we have previously worked together.
By signing below, we confirm that we have discussed and understood how we will work together and agree to the terms contained in this Coaching Agreement.
